It’s not uncommon for journalists to become blacklisted or barred from attending certain events, but it’s usually not for attacking their sources. Last weekend at DreamHack, there was an altercation between eSports journalist Richard Lewis and competitive Dota 2 player Jonathan “Loda” Berg.
This confrontation ended in the security team freeing Loda from a chokehold by Lewis. Initially, there wasn’t a lot of clear information regarding what happened, but DreamHack eSports director Christian Lord eventually stepped forward and posted a statement about the incident on Twitter.
“Suddenly Richard attacked Loda and started to strangle him.”
“While talking to Richard, Loda pops up without me really being able to react. Loda didn’t touch Lewis but aggressively approached Richard,” said Lord. “Suddenly Richard attacked Loda and started to strangle him.”
